After hearing rumors of dismal conditions in holding facilities for undocumented kids fleeing Central America, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez wanted to check one of the facilities out for herself.
Along with members of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, Gonzalez recently visited a facility in Ventura County, where she says things look pretty "adequate."
“[With] everything they’ve been through, this is the best situation they have been in within the last few months,” she said. "They're at the last leg of the tour," she said, "but they still have a lot ahead of them."
On this week's podcast, Gonzalez chatted with VOSD Radio’s Caty Green and Andrew Keatts about her experience visiting the facility. Gonzalez also shared why she’s curbing her excitement over the city’s new minimum wage hike.
